We have been working hard to learn a dance with our buddy class, and we will perform it at tomorrow's assembly. The students are both excited and nervous. They have been doing fabulously during practices and I am very proud of how quick the learned it.

I hope everyone had a relaxing winter break and are ready to start a new year!
Students were very excited to return to school to see their classmates. We have had some cold, windy weather and thank you for dressing your child appropriately. In math we are finishing out 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication and our timed multiplication facts and we will be moving on to division shortly. In writing we have added a silent write for 20 minutes to our day. Students have been very creative and have enjoyed the thought provoking pictures shown as the topic of the day. Students then do a 3 minute self-edit and a 3 minute share. Mrs. Aerts has started the Red Cedar Club. Students in grades 4 and 5 are able to join. They are to read 5 books from either the fiction or the non-fiction author nominees. Students are to fill out a form online to show their knowledge of the book. Students get to vote for the winners and can attend the Red Cedar Gala in Vancouver in May (with parent permission). We are all excited about this and I have purchased some of the books for our classroom to help with availability. We have been learning about les objets de classe (school supplies) in French. Ask you student how to say 'It's a pen.' in French. Our Triple C group has been working hard on knitting with the T-shirt yarn they created from old/stained, donated t-shirts. Please send in your old t-shirts for us! Spellathon starts tomorrow (Wednesday January 11th)!! Cheers, Mrs. G |
